Talked to Rivals last night and they didn't want me to redirect until they knew for sure what server they wanted me to redirect to, etc. so this is staying until now. They're also checking to see if there's still a way for the user names to just transfer over but there have been so many that are already used it's been difficult.
I'll also leave the message board running for people who might have trouble signing up for the new one. If you can, sign up for the new one now and start posting there. If you are having trouble then post it here or e-mail me (freddymac@thebluejaycafe.com) with your user name and tell me the problem and I'll forward it to Rivals. |

Freddy--
I hope you read this if not I will e-mail you. Earlier today I posted a thread on the baseball forum about the 1991 CWS. We will be doing a show about that in a couple of weeks and All I wanted was some responsesfor the cafe on their memories of the series. I just went on now and it was deleted. I reposted it. Question? I am I not allowed to do this anymore? Will we be able to promote our show as we always have on the cafe or will those be deleted too?
Please let me know.
thanks |

You will not able to promote your show without it being of some interest to our board directly. No one is going to use the board to promote things that have nothing to do with the board. That means blogs, TV shows or radio programs for at least the first 90 days on the site. This comes from Rivals and I agree 100%. We will re-evulate the policy after 90 days.
Fred deleted your post and Fred will delete those kind of posts in the future. Sorry - rules have changed with the new board. Add content - add a something worth reading - give your opinion.....and then we can talk about your promoting your radio show maybe in the future but so far - all you do is post about your radio show...no dice. _________________ Listen to my show in Des Moines on www.KXNO.com and check out my twitter site: http://twitter.com/sportstalkmatt |

Can't you guys work something out?
The radio show has a whole segment on the what's happening at the Cafe. That would seem to benefit the Rivals site by potentially driving some traffic there. Maybe a few additional mentions? C'mon Matt, I think there could be some common ground...
Frankly, I want to see both the new board and the radio program succeed and have a vested interest in neither. I see no reason why the two of you can't live in harmony. Isn't exposure for Creighton the ultimate goal for both? |

Atty - that show is competition to us in all areas - including advertising. I know for a fact that they are approaching my old sponsors that are going to be on board for the new site. This is a business decision for the site to be successful to start....once things get set up - then maybe. No for now _________________ Listen to my show in Des Moines on www.KXNO.com and check out my twitter site: http://twitter.com/sportstalkmatt |

This must be a relatively new policy if it really is a Rivals policy because IIRC, Matt, you used the Husker board to promote your show pretty frequently, right? |

Matt,
How can you promote your show in Des Moines when it absolutely has nothing to do with CU.
At least your tag line at the bottom stating "listen to my show on _____" should be taken off from this point on. |

Well, great. Now there's a rule at Rivals that posts have to be worth reading? I might as well not even start over there if they're going to have, like, standards and stuff. My posts have been content-free for years. I'm like GM. I can't retool now, after all this time.
You might want to consider relaxing a rule or two, Matt, if you're allowed to. From what I've read on Rivals so far, It's not exactly the Lincoln-Douglas debates over there. Seems like there should be room to plug a Jays radio show every now and then without lowering the level of decorum and discourse.
By the way, if this little startup radio show in that kamikaze Sunday morning time slot is really competition to a corporate giant "in all areas", I have to make a point to start tuning in. That's suddenly "must listen radio" for me. |

Good JayBird - listen to the show. It doesn't matter to me at all. Competition is for ad dollars in Omaha with my sponsors. And yes, we will have sponsors to the new site. There are several sponsors that want to keep us going and get involved with Creighton directly. You won't notice it really except on things like the message boards...see HI for examples of banner ads....
In terms of my signature - that dies with this site...in like 24 hours this site will no longer exist so there is not point to argue that. My signature on the new site does not talk about radio as there is no point - you are correct.
I was allowed to post on HI about my radio show because I was a media member who paid to be a part of that board...I was lucky also that I knew Sean Callahan.
Thanks guys - it's been an awesome start to the site. I hope you will come over and be a part of the new site...and by a part, I mean by posting not promoting _________________ Listen to my show in Des Moines on www.KXNO.com and check out my twitter site: http://twitter.com/sportstalkmatt |

Matt,
I have never met you, nor have I ever met tkjay or any of the Bluejay Banter people. I have kept quiet on the whole old board/new board debate. After coming on here today and reading your double standard response to tkjay, I lost any respect I had for you. Although I did not live in Omaha while you worked there, I appreciated your coverage of the Jays (waited patiently for the podcasts to go up). I worked in Athletics at Creighton when we had to do everything we could to get any type of coverage from the local media. Now that you no longer have a radio presence in Omaha, what these guys are doing to try and get CU some coverage other than the World-Herald (I don't have to be in Omaha to know that KM3, WOWT, KETV and KPTM aren't doing jack for coverage) is admirable, and yes, would be related to anything on the BJC. I find it very hard to believe that this is a Rivals standard. Again, as someone who used to work in athletics at CU (with many of the people who are still there - including Ras, Sarver and DA), knowing those people like I do, I imagine they are thrilled with the Rivals site. But I can't imagine they are thrilled to deal with someone who operates like you do - with zero to little respect for others.
Freddie I appreciate all of your efforts with the BJC and have enjoyed visiting the board over the past few years. I wish you nothing but the best with your new endeavor. I have already registered over at the new board and plan on participating on the free platforms. However, as long as Matt is involved with the new BJC, I'm sorry to say that I will never contribute any monies toward the premium side of the board.

What if they were to promote it on the Jerry Palm thread? After all, that thread doesn't ADD anything worth reading... |
